Metrier is an iOS wellness app that reads data from health services you connect and turns compatible measurements into personal health signals. This policy explains which data Metrier uses, where processing happens, and how you can control it. Metrier is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.
The short version
- Metrier reads health data only after you connect a source and grant access.
- Metrier calculates its scores on your iPhone.
- Only if you subscribe to Metrier Pro and allow it, a short summary of the relevant figures and your question are sent to Google Gemini to write answers.
- Metrier does not sell health data or use advertising trackers.
- You can disconnect a source to stop syncing and clear local cache and credentials stored for it.
Data sources
The data Metrier reads and writes depends on the connections and permissions you choose:
- Google Health and Fitbit: compatible activity, heart rate, sleep, body, and nutrition measurements through permission-scoped Google authorization, plus exercise route points when location access is granted. When you choose to log hydration, food, body weight, body fat, or workout sessions within Metrier, Metrier writes those records directly to your connected destinations (including Google Health when connected and configured with write permissions).
- Apple Health: compatible wellness measurements stored in Apple Health (including activity, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep analysis, wrist temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, workout routes, and ECG or irregular rhythm notifications if authorized). When you log hydration, nutrition (up to 12 dietary categories), or workout sessions, Metrier can save those records to Apple Health when write permissions are granted. Metrier does not provide medical diagnosis or cardiac monitoring; these readings are wellness signals.
- Strava: recent activity details shown in a separate Fitness section. Strava is a read-only activity source, not a write destination. Strava data is retained for no more than seven days and is not used for scoring, combined analytics, or health intelligence.
Some device makers keep proprietary scores inside their own services. Metrier reads only supported raw metrics that a provider shares; it calculates its own scores and cannot read metrics that are not shared.
How Metrier uses health data
Metrier uses compatible connected measurements to calculate Recovery, Strain, Sleep, Energy Reserve, Stress, Nutrition, and Biology views. The app compares many measurements with your own recent baseline. A missing input remains missing; Metrier does not silently replace it with a default value.
AI answers (Metrier Pro)
Metrier calculates its scores on your device. Insight cards for free users, and everything for Pro subscribers who haven't given permission, are written on the device, using Apple's on-device model when supported and available, or built-in templates otherwise.
If you subscribe to Metrier Pro and give permission in the app, chat answers and insight cards are written by Google Gemini. Metrier then sends a short summary of the relevant figures (for example a night's sleep or a heart-rate reading compared with your usual) and, for chat, the question you type. The request Google receives contains no name, email, date of birth, location, account or device identifier added by Metrier, and no full health history. Your question is sent as you typed it after basic checks, so leave out details that identify you.
The request passes through a small Metrier-operated relay on Cloudflare (ai.metrier.com). The relay separately receives your signed App Store transaction to check your subscription and apply fair-use limits; that transaction is not passed to Google. The relay does not store the content of your questions or answers.
Google processes the request under its paid Gemini API terms, which exclude this content from improving Google's products. Under Google's abuse-monitoring policy, prompts, context and responses are kept for 55 days to detect and prevent misuse; authorized Google staff may review flagged content, and it may be used only for models that enforce that policy.
You can withdraw permission at any time in Profile; answers are then written on your device. Generated wording is checked before display, but may still be inaccurate. Metrier is a wellness tool, not a medical diagnosis or treatment service.
Food lookup services
Metrier does not hold its own food database. When you look a food up, that lookup is sent to a public nutrition database so it can be answered. This happens only when you actively search or scan; it never happens in the background.
- USDA FoodData Central (
api.nal.usda.gov, United States) receives the words you type when you search for a food by name. Metrier queries only the Foundation and SR Legacy datasets, which describe generic whole foods. - Open Food Facts (
openfoodfacts.org) receives the words you type when you search, or the barcode number when you scan a packaged product.
What is sent is the search text or the barcode, and nothing else. These services do not receive your health readings, your calculated scores, your Metrier or provider account details, or any identifier Metrier has created for you. Like any internet request, the request reaches them from your device's IP address, and their own privacy policies govern what they do with it.
Photographing a nutrition label works differently: that text is read on your device and the photograph is not uploaded anywhere.
Storage and service infrastructure
- Health readings, cached history, and calculated signals are stored on your device.
- Connection credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain.
- The AI relay at
ai.metrier.com(Metrier Pro, with permission) keeps a small usage record per App Store subscription: the number of answers today and the model cost this month, used to enforce fair-use limits. The counts reset each day and month; the record itself is not deleted automatically. Its operational logs record request status, timing, size and cost with a one-way hash of the subscription, never the content. - Some connections use a small Metrier-operated service to keep provider secrets out of the app and exchange authorization tokens. That service is not designed to retain your health history.
- The metrier.com host may process standard security and access logs needed to deliver the website. The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies.
Sharing
Metrier does not sell personal or health data. Data is shared only with services you choose to connect, Google Gemini when you allow AI answers in Metrier Pro, infrastructure providers needed to operate those connections and the website, or authorities when disclosure is legally required.
Retention and deletion
- Disconnect a provider in Metrier to stop syncing and clear local cache and credentials stored for that connection.
- Removing Metrier clears local app storage and cached history on your device, but does not delete records previously saved to Apple Health or Google Health, or backups you exported. Manage those records in their respective services. Disconnect providers and revoke their access when you no longer want Metrier to use them. Connection credentials in the iOS Keychain should be removed by disconnecting before uninstalling.
- Strava activity data is discarded after no more than seven days.
- Contact Metrier for requests concerning data outside your device.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete personal data and withdraw consent. Most health data lives on your device, so you can exercise many choices inside the app. Contact Metrier for anything else.
Children
Metrier is not directed to children under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data. Google Gemini answers in Metrier Pro are only for people aged 18 and over: the app offers them only when the date of birth you enter shows you are 18 or older.
Changes
This policy will change as Metrier develops. The date above will be updated, and material changes will be surfaced in the app or on this page.
